SOMETIMES I ALMOST EXPECT TO BE REMEMBERED AS A FLOOR was specifically made for the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Amsterdam, for an exhibition in 2010. The floor of the Oude Kerk consists of old graves - it has a beautiful patchwork pattern in a way. I used these formal qualities as a basis for this work, a series of quilts of the graves' surface structures. Each grave measures about 70 x 200 cm; sixteen (parts of) graves were quilted, making the total dimensions of the work about 6 x 8 meters.
